What are you telling yourself daily? Research has proven that around 80% of the 50,000 subconscious thoughts you have in a day are negative ones. Try to stop this and give yourself loving, kind, messages. You can do this with affirmations, decrees and chanting.
What are affirmations?
An affirmation is a short, powerful statement. They allow you to consciously be in control of your thoughts. An affirmation is carefully constructed to have the most impact. When you say or think them, they become the thoughts that shape your reality. To affirm is to say something positively. So an affirmation is firmly declaring or decreeing a positive thought and stating it as a truth. By making these positive declarations part of your daily life, you are helping your mind to prioritise positivity over negativity.
Repetition of affirmations leads to belief of what is being affirmed. When that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.
Benefits of affirmations:
Positive statements make you feel positive, energetic and active, and therefore, put you in a better position to transform your inner and external worlds.
My favourite affirmations are:
I AM enough
I AM in charge of my life
I have everything I need to be happy
"Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways." (Job 22:28, King’s James Version)
What is a Decree?
A decree is an official order issued by a legal authority. When you decree something, you are taking authority. We have been given the authority from Source/ the Universe/ God to make these decrees into our realms of influence and as we do it we begin to create those in our life. It is a combination of prayer, meditation and visualization.
My favourite decrees are from the book “The Science of the Spoken Word” written by Elizabeth and Mark Prophet. In this book, you get to learn how to decree effectively by using proper breathing, rhythm, posture and visualization.
The ones I use the most:
I AM life of God-direction
Blaze thy light of truth in me
Focus here all God’s perfection,
From all discord, set me free
Make and keep me anchored ever
In the justice of thy plan-
I AM the presence of perfection
Living the life of God in man!(3 times)
I AM free from fear and doubt,
Casting want and misery out,
Knowing now all good supply
Ever comes from realms on high.
I AM the hand of God’s own fortune
Flooding forth the treasures of light,
Now receiving full abundance
To supply each need of life (3 times)
Tube of light
Beloved, I AM present bright
Round me seal your tube of light
From ascended-master flame
Called forth now in God’s own name
Let it keep my temple free
From all discord sent to me.
I AM calling forth violet fire
To blaze and transmute all desire,
Keeping on in freedom’s name
Till I AM one with the violet flame (3 times)
What is chanting?
Chanting is a rhythmical repetition (either silently or aloud) of a song, prayer, word or sound (mantra). It is one of the most ancient spiritual practices and a part of most religions and spiritual paths.
According to many spiritual traditions, the sound is healing and sacred. It is also believed that sound is one of the most powerful forces. Chanting deepens concentration and devotion, calms the mind and improves awareness.
Chanting is also great for troubled minds, and it helps in getting rid of grief, hardship and pain, bringing in the peace you really need
Here are some of my favourite mantra’s to chant
1. Om Mani Padme Hum
This mantra comes from Buddhism and is related to the Bodhisattva of compassion. This is one of the prime mantras that the Buddhist use and is chanted multiple times to invoke the feelings of compassion and loving.
Meaning and effects:
Om – The sound vibration of Om dissolves our ego and pride.
Mani – Here, the ‘ma’ syllable takes away your jealousy and ‘ni’ dissolves our attachment to desire and passion.
Padme – ‘Pad’ syllable removes our judgemental notions and the ‘me’ dissolves our possessive behaviour.
Hum – it dissolves our attachments to hatred.
If you chant this powerful mantra again and again with pure intention, it will clear your soul of any negative energy.
2. Om Namah Shivaya
Om Namah Shivaya mantra is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most powerful mantras in Hinduism. Repeating this mantra over and over again leads to a transcendental mode or a state of pure concentration.
Om – The vibration that represents the creation of the universe.
Namah – means to bow or show adoration.
Shivaya – means the inner self.
This powerful mantra acknowledges that as a collective pool, everything is one and hence bowing to the inner self means accepting it as a part of the collective consciousness.
3. Nam Myoho-Renge-Kyo
Nam Myoho-Renge-Kyo is a sacred chant for those following Nichiren's Buddhism.
To break down the true meaning of this chant, you must know that Myoho-Renge-Kyo is said to be the ultimate Law of life permeating the universe. It signifies the name of the True Buddha. The other interpretation of this chant is that it is the essence and core meaning of all sutras (Buddhist or Jainist scripture) and the most supreme law.
Nam - the devotion of our mind and body
Myoho-Renge - the ultimate reality of the universe
Kyo - the teaching of the significance of "Myoho-Renge."
This powerful mantra holds you responsible for your fate. It implies that events aren't just destiny but that you create your own fate.
